Restylane
Restylane & Perlane are utilized at Vancouver’s Pender Medi Spa by the expertise of Dr. Ralph Bieg
Restylane treatment is an instant, non-surgical cosmetic enhancement which smoothes wrinkles, restores volume, and enhances facial features, resulting in a natural, refreshed appearance.
As we age, our skin loses structure and volume, and the Hyaluronic acid in our skin is depleted, creating unwanted wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar, that exists in all living things, including Humans, and as a result, no allergy testing is required prior to use. RESTYLANE & PERLANE provide volume and maintain moisture in our skin. During the aging process, our cells lose the ability to produce Hyaluronic acid, and our skin becomes dehydrated, causing wrinkles and folds to form.
Restylane is a safe and effective dermal filler which is comprised of Hyaluronic acid. When injected under the skin, it replaces the Hyaluronic acid your skin has lost, bringing back its volume, and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is long-lasting, yet reversible with an injection of Hyaluronidase.
Both Restylane and Perlane are now available as Restylane Fine Lines-L, Restylane-L, and Perlane-L. The “L” designates that Lidocaine is mixed with the filler; making it a much more pleasant experience.
Restylane is commonly used to improve the following:
Nasolabial Folds (smile lines) – these run vertically from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
Marionette Lines – the vertical facial folds that form below the corners of the mouth. These contribute to a sagging, downturned expression.
Vertical Lip Lines – these may begin to appear over time due to repeated lip muscle movement, and environmental factors (smoking, sun exposure, stress).
Perlane may also be used to restore volume and enhance facial features such as the cheeks, lips, chin, and jaw line.
Restylane treatment is a smooth, comfortable experience, thanks to its patented formulation which includes Lidocaine – a localized pain reliever. Because a customized treatment plan is important for achieving the very best results, Restylane is available in several formulations.

What To Expect
Unfortunately, there are many poor Lip and Facial injections done. Every individual is unique as to what subtle changes will improve their appearance; without looking like they have been “done”. Unfortunately, a small minority of patients will get a small bruise following a dermal filler injection. We use a very thin needle and apply pressure for 10 minutes after injections to minimize this risk.
We recommend the following prior to a dermal filler procedure:
- Avoid Aspirin (ASA), Vitamin E, Ibuprofen(Motrin or Advil), Naproxen(Aleve). and Ginkgo Biloba for 4 days prior to your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Eat Kiwi and Pineapple prior to and after your appointment. These fruits contain Bromelain, which helps reduce bruising
- If you are on blood thinners, or have any bruising problems, please notify the doctor prior to your treatment
